New Zealand’s school mountain bikers conquered Signal Hill at the weekend.
The three-day national schools championships was hosted by Mountain Biking Otago.
More than 400 riders from 110 schools entered the enduro, downhill and cross-country events.
Todd Ballance, of Nelson, and Poppy Buissink, of Auckland, were the senior winners of the enduro events, held over five stages on Friday.
Taieri College’s Emma Cunningham finished just one second slower than Buissink.
In the downhill event on Saturday, Jess Blewett, of Wakatipu High School, and Albert Snep, of Scots College, were the under-20 female and male winners, respectively.
Buissink and Sam Buckley, of Auckland, claimed the under-20 cross-country honours on Sunday.
Marlborough Boys’ High School was the leading school overall, followed by Wakatipu High School and Shirley Boys’ High School.
