About 29 teams competed in the Otago Secondary School Futsal Tournament at the Edgar Centre on Friday.

Football South futsal development officer Mike Sannum said the tournament was an annual event.

There were fewer teams than last year due to the tournament being earlier this year, he said.

“Everyone seems to be enjoying it.

“There was a lot of buy-in from everyone involved.

“So it’s been really good.”

Sannum said the tournament was a “warm-up” for the NZSS National Futsal Tournament event.

The national tournament would be held in term 2 in Wellington.
