In a rapidly changing world, a group of artists are adapting fast.

In the 12 hours after Tuesday night’s cancellation of the Dunedin Fringe Festival, a replacement digital event began coming together.

The Quarantine Showcase will live stream online from the New Athenaeum Theatre, hosted by soon-to-be international superstar Austin Dean Ashford.

Ashford will perform excerpts from his (I)sland T(rap) show and other original songs, as well as selling merchandise from the show.

As of 4pm Wednesday, other performers were being confirmed to join him. The event will go live at 7pm this Friday and Saturday.

Links will be shared from New Athenaeum web and facebook pages.

Much like an old-fashioned telethon, there will be audience interaction via chat, links to donate to the artists and venue, and to purchase merchandise.

The public are welcome to not attend from wherever they are.
