A feature film about a New Zealand motor racing great will premiere in Dunedin next month.

Ken Smith, 60 Years at the Wheel will play at Metro Cinema on August 5 at 7.30pm.

The film follows Smith as he embarks on his 60th season of motor racing.

Along the way, viewers meet his fellow racers and look back on his past achievements.

Smith is also well-known for helping young racers with their careers.

Many have gone on to become the biggest names in motorsport, and viewers will get to see them during the season.

At 76, Smith shows no signs of slowing down and to top off the year he plans to race in the United States for the first time.

Shows have sold out in Hampton Downs (Waikato), Cambridge, Palmerston North, Christchurch, Timaru and Invercargill.
