Australian rocker Jimmy Barnes will present his “Working Class Boy: An Evening of Stories and Songs” show in Dunedin next month.
The Cold Chisel frontman will take to the Regent Theatre stage on Tuesday, February 7, and tell his life story and give intimate performances of some of his songs.
This tour is the live companion to Barnes’ book, which tells of fleeing poverty in Scotland for the shores of Australia, the violence and abuse he received as a migrant in Adelaide and his escape via rock and roll.
Barnes said he “spent most of my life running from my childhood and now it seems like my time to face it. So this is the story of a lifetime spent running away. Running from fear. Running from shame but at the same time running from hope. I’m not running anymore.”
This tour will also see him accompanied by his musical companions, delivering intimate performances of some key songs drawn from his earliest years.
Jimmy Barnes will present his “Working Class Boy: An Evening of Stories and Songs” at the Regent Theatre on Tuesday, February 7. Tickets can be bought at www.ticketdirect.co.nz or the Regent Theatre box office in the Octagon.
