Tunnel mural

Alyssa Duthie (12), of Abbotsford, paints an image of a kiwi in a mural in the pedestrian tunnel linking her suburb and Green Island on Friday. The Columba College pupil and 20 other children from the greater Green Island area were selected to paint a large mural on the interior of the 30m-long Runciman St tunnel. Each pupil was given a letter to paint from the name of the two suburbs the tunnel links. Alyssa was given the first letter in Abbotsford and her Kiwiana theme includes a rugby ball, jandal and the Southern Cross shining in a night sky. Friday was the last of three painting days and an official unveiling of the mural is planned for October 18. REPORT/PHOTO: SHAWN MCAVINUE
