Mosgiel boy Felix Smith is the star of a milk powder commercial airing in China.

The East Taieri School pupil said the commercial was filmed in various locations for five days between Christchurch and the West Coast in June last year.

In the 30-second commercial, Felix collects “magical images” in a glass milk bottle and takes them home to show his younger sister.

A Christchurch-based Talent Agency put out a casting call for a boy with blonde hair and blue eyes from the South Island.

He applied and made a shortlist of four boys.

The Chinese director selected Felix, who was then 6 years old, for the lead role.

The film crew were “nice” and the experience was “fun”.

When the commercial started airing in China, friends had been asking for his autograph but the requests had to be declined.
