Ice hockey players are pleased to be back.
The Dunedin Ice Hockey Association hosted a round in the southern zone under-12 series at the ice stadium on Sunday.
Teams from Gore, Alexandra, Tekapo and Queenstown travelled to the city for the tournament.
Association president Simon Heptonstall said it was “awesome”.
Since the ice stadium has an Olympic-sized rink, they were able to have three games going across the width of the rink at a time.
That meant there was heaps of playing time for the teams, as other centres only had room for two games, Heptonstall said.
The feedback had been positive, and the players “definitely enjoyed themselves”.
Clubs took turns to host each round of the series.
The under-15 and under-18 teams were also set to start.
