Taieri church members have signed a memorandum of understanding for a local op shop they were given.

Members of East Taieri Church, Mosgiel North Taieri Presbyterian Church and the Saddle Hill Foundation Trust signed the agreement for Shop on Taieri on November 8.

The shop was originally run by Presbyterian Support Otago, and the Saddle Hill Foundation Trust – which was established by East Taieri Church – took over in July.

The memorandum stated the trust would be responsible for operating the shop, and the day-to-day trading.

Profits made would be put into community projects.

East Taieri Church community facilitator Joy Davis said it was wonderful to have the two churches and trust combining their strengths and working together.

“It’s been very well-supported on the Taieri for the last 10 years and now we’re starting this new chapter.

“We’re really looking forward to where that’s going to take us.”
