Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer residents will have a chance to get together this weekend, with a quiz night and annual meeting.

The two events, organised by Dunedin Pride and the Q2 Trust, would provide an opportunity for “support and celebration”, trust board member Ann Charlotte said.

The “Queer Quiz” will be held on Friday, July 7, in the Dunningham Suite at the Dunedin Public Library, starting at 6.30pm.

Competitors – both LGBTQ folk and allies – can compete in teams of up to six people.

The first annual meeting of the Q2 Trust is to be held on July 8 at the Dunedin Fringe Festival office on Princes St, from 1-4pm.

The trust aimed to “strengthen community support and social opportunities” for LGBTQ Dunedin people, Ms Charlotte said.

The event will be opened by lecturer/author Chris Brickell, who would talk about his upcoming book Teenagers, which looks at the rise of youth culture in New Zealand.

The Queer Quiz will be held on Friday, July 7, and the Q2 Trust annual meeting will be held on Saturday, July 8.
