Jump for cancer

Karen O’Neill free-falls with Skydive Wanaka tandem master Cody in Wanaka on March 5.

Mrs O’Neill, of Pukehiki on Otago Peninsula, did her first skydive to raise awareness of ovarian cancer.

She was diagnosed with the disease in late 2018 and had a hysterectomy soon after.

She used the jump to raise more than $4000 for charity The Graci Foundation, a gynaecological cancer research trust.

“By the time the plane had spiralled halfway up to 15,000ft, I realised that I was actually quite excited.”

The jump included a minute of free-falling.
