Joint show introduction for wife

Waikouaiti-based artists Laura and Peter Gregory will present a joint exhibition at the Stuart St Potters Co-operative in Lower Stuart St in July.
While Peter Gregory, a potter and painter, has been a member of the co-op for several years, the exhibition will be an introduction for his wife as a new member.
Being part of the artists’ collective was proving an enjoyable experience.
‘‘It is really nice having the interaction with the creative folk who belong to the co-op,’’ she said.
‘‘I am finding it very inspiring seeing the work that they do.’’
Laura Gregory has been selling her painted wooden musicians, harlequins and angels since about 1998, firstly at Gray’s Studio in Northeast Valley and at Moray Gallery. The couple also have their own small gallery at their home in the old post office building in Waikouaiti.
Her pieces are painted in acrylic paint on MDF board, cut out with a fretsaw and sealed with acrylic varnish.
‘‘I have developed my style over the years, but it’s safe to say I like slightly quirky images,’’ she said.
The Gregorys will have a joint stand in the Stuart St Potters Co-operative gallery, at 14 Lower Stuart St, displaying a colourful selection of their work from July 4 to 16.
‘‘Not only is it very nice to have this outlet for my work, I am also appreciating that Peter and I can do something together,’’ she said.
