‘Anyone and everyone’ welcome at rebranded Middlemarch Ball

Dust off your denim and diamonds – the Middlemarch Ball is on.

Ball co-organiser Helen Fincham-Putter said the ball would be held on Easter Saturday, April 20 in Middlemarch A&P Showgrounds.

“It’s all go.”

The organising committee had picked a theme – denim and diamonds.

The event, which is held every second year, had been rebranded and the word “single” dropped from its name.

“We are encouraging anyone and everyone to come along – it’s R18, though.”

The rebranding would allow couples to “get dressed up and come out for the night”.

A search for an organising committee had left the event’s future up in the air last year.

But a committee, a liquor licence and a train to transport revellers from Dunedin Railway Station had been secured.

The ball had capacity for 700 revellers – 300 tickets on the train and ball and 400 tickets for the ball only.
