An annual fundraiser will make tracks for the eighth year in a row on November 12.
‘ Without the public support and our sponsor support we could not do it ‘ Taieri Gorge Railway will once again host the Ronald McDonald House fundraising event, which attracts about 300 people each year.  McDonald’s Dunedin ambassador Annemarie Jorissen said there would be plenty of activities to keep people entertained.  Entertainment would include colouring competitions, a lolly scramble and barbecue at Hindon and a magic show performed by Ronald McDonald. She said a lot of the people who had bought tickets knew someone who had used the Ronald McDonald houses.  ‘‘We have got fabulous support from people . .. without the public support and our sponsor support we could not do it.’’  The train will stop at Hindon for lunch — where people are encouraged to bring their own picnic lunch.  ‘‘Farm animals will come down from a farm and the kids can pat the sheep. ‘‘It’s just a fun day really.’’ The fundraiser raised about $10,000 last year, she said.
Tickets cost $45 per person, $1200 for a 30-seat carriage or $600 for half a carriage.
