Best-dressed wheelbarrows, fair games and a heavily competitive tug-of-war competition are just some of the activities on the schedule for next Sunday’s Blueskin Agricultural and Pastoral Society Show Day, a co-ordinator says.
Show games co-ordinator Mandy Mayhem-Bullock said the events on April 9 would include a range of games – including a sack race, three-legged race and a wheelbarrow race, a best dressed dog competition, a teddy bear competition, produce contests, apple pressing and a lolly scramble.
There would also be a competition to find the heaviest dead gutted rabbit, which would be used as bait for the Halo Project’s trapping programme, she said.
Ms Mayhem-Bullock said the previous year’s competition had been to find the biggest dead possum and she won a pair of possum-fur socks for the possum she had found on the road.
“They’re my favourite.”
The show would run from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, April 9, at Bland Park in Waitati, she said.
Entry costs $3 per person, but children 12 and under are free.
Entry included going into the draw to win a pile of firewood.
