A Mosgiel motocross rider is leading his class of the Southern series after winning two rounds of the competition. Jabari Vink (14) is part of the Mosgiel and Districts Motorcycle Club and is leading the 12-16 years 85/150cc class with 327 points. Motorcycle clubs from Central Otago, Southland, South Otago, South Canterbury, Gore and Mosgiel each host a round and riders compete to accumulate points. Each round has three races with 25 points on offer for first place, with a maximum of 75 points up for grabs. Jabari came first in Gore at the weekend and in round two in Invercargill. He was second at the end of round four, two points behind Milton rider Tayla Gold. His stepfather, Nick Hodge, said Jabari and Tayla, who has 322 points, had been battling for first. Jabari came second in the South Island cross-country champs earlier in the year in the 12-16 years 85cc class. Mosgiel and Districts Motorcycle Club will host the final round of the Southern series on November 19.
