Still making a difference

The Mosgiel Rotary Club has been active in the Taieri community for more than 80 years.

While the motto “service above self” still applies, most other aspects have changed to fit our changing lifestyles.

These are times when many, once their children leave home, feel isolated.

Rotary is a place where people can reconnect with the community.

The needs in the community have never been greater and members feel rewarded by making a difference.

Distributions of firewood to those in need, partnering with the Taieri College pupils at book sale time, (using their muscles for lifting) and donating profits back to them, provide a win for both groups and leading the fundraising for the new aquatic centre are examples of what we are doing.

Rotary in 2020 is a place where you can work with like-minded people developing ideas for community enhancement.

We have weekly meetings but attendance isn’t always possible.

Rotary is about being part of something, having a laugh and taking part as you are able.
